    I'm not sure if I am reading this right, but does the Creole version say plants needing water instead of a deer? Is this more culturally relevant?

    Yes, it does say that.

    It (literally) says:
    Just like plants in a garden need water
    So my soul is thirsty for your presence.

    And you are right about the cultural relevance. We culturally relate better to this interpretation.

    Reading the Haitian Creole Bible is a great way to increase your Haitian Creole vocabulary. You can always compare the translations to your English bible.
