How can you tell the difference between Zouk, Kompa, Zouk-Love, Soca, etc.?

The difference, I think, is in the rhythm. The best way to tell the difference is spend time listenning to these rhythm so that you may develop an ear for them. I suggest you start with a collection of zouk music. Bònn chans!

Ask me anything

  1. zouk is monotone it start with like hard beat or sexual beat and end the same way it start more MIDI technology Keybord and guitar have little effect in Zouk. Kompa is more direct that is the resoned they call it Kompa Direct, it is classic less MIDI technology the keybod and guitar make changes in Kompa. Don't forget there is Kompa love, Kompa Zouk MIX, Haiti troubadour . but in reallity they both the same music because of Cadence Rampa that came from Haiti out of Kompa Direct to Martinique and Guadeloupe and even Dominica that change the music to Cadence-lypso which is 2 MIX one is Cadance Rampa from Haiti the same Kompa and Calypso from Trinidade with the Soca together that created Cadance-lypso and Zouk came all that which is the same Kompa Direct in all, the influence of the haitians.
