Do you know any children's songs in Creole? Or any christian hymns? If so could you please post some lyrics? I have tried and tried to find some on the internet, but I can't find any....

Haitian Christian Hymn Book is called CHANTS D'ESPERANCE.
I have seen it at Amazon.com
It's in French and Creole.  It does not have the music scores, but it does have a list of all the Creole hymns and choruses having English airs.

I am posting one of the hymns here with lyrics.

Precious Lord
Chè Senyè, kenbe men m, ede mwen rete fèm
Mwen bouke fatige tèlman
Nan loraj, nan fènwa, klere wout la devan m
Kenbe men m, chè Senyè fè m rive

Lè chemen difisil, e m bezwen ou anpil
Senyè rete la tou pre mwen
Lè mwen prèt pou m ale, ede m pou m pa bite
Kenbe men m, chè Senyè fè m rive

Lè solèy la kouche, e nwit la  ap pwoche
E tout lavi mwen va fini
Ede m pa regrete nan ou sèl mwen konfye m
Kenbe men m, chè Senye fè m rive

Children make a line when singing this song. Each line has a leader. One leader is called the ‘sun’, the other, the ‘moon’. The “sun” and the “moon” face each other, join hands and form a bridge for the line to pass through. They start singing. At the end of the song the “sun” and the “moon” lower the bridge and ask the captured child, “who do you prefer, the sun or the moon?”. The child chooses to stand behind the sun or the moon. At the end of the game they count and see who has the most followers (the sun or the moon?). Some kids play this game while being blindfolded.

    1. Yes, these are popular children's songs in Haiti with the exception of the followings:
      Awesome God
      Change my heart God
      Name above all names
      Father I adore you
      As the deer ...
      Open my eyes Lord ...

Not every kid would know them unless they were taught at church.

    1. Well, some songs are popular in the Sunday school circle. And others are popular in the 'kindergarten' circle. If a child had never gone to church, he/she might have not heard of the 'Sunday School' songs.

    1. No, your question is not random at all :)

This song is mostly sang in French, with some ad lib in Creole. Here's the lyrics. You will also find many you tube posts of this song if you search it under this long title "Sans inquiétude sous son manteau de grâce"

      M’environne et me rend fort

Mon père a deja visé mon passport
      La-haut bras ouvert
Et il n’attend que moi hmm hmm

      Refrain

Kreyòl portion that you might hear:

Lè m’ap mache anba lonbray lanmò,
M’ pa pè, kè’m pa janm sote
Senyè a avèk mwen, hmmm hmmmm
Papa m deja tcheke paspò lavi hmm hmm
Nan syèl la, se mwen menm l’ap tann

    1. You may have to tweek the English words a bit in order for the prose of the songs to fit with the music.

      Without worry
Without worry, under his cloak of grace
In heaven I will go up to take my place, hm hm

Flooded with the love of my dear Savior
      The waves of freshness
surge into my heart hm hm

      Refrain
Prouder than the eagle and the condor
      I soar into the heavens
The all powerful arms of God
surrounds me and makes me strong
I am a conqueror, hm hm

In this valley of the shadow of death
I walk without fear for He is with me
My father has already checked my passport
      Up there, with open arms
And he's expecting me hm hm

      refrain
The angels of heaven can not understand
This infinite grace that brings my soul to cry
Hosanna Hosanna! I am a conqueror

    1. Here are some of the most well-known Christmas carols in Haiti.
Some are in French, some in Creole. The titles you don't know, you may search for the music sample on Youtube.

Mete ajenou, tande zanj yo ap chante
O nuit trè sen, O nuit lè Kris te fèt
O nuit diven, O nuit, O nuit diven

Kè nou briye ak lanmou pou Jezi Kris
Nou adore Li ki vin fèt pou sove nou
Nou swiv li menm jan moun saj yo te swiv li

Gade ti Jezi ki kouche nan krèch la (Away in a manger)

Bèf yo t’ape begle, ti bebe leve
Li louvri bèl je li men li pa kriye

      Premye Nowèl (The First Noel)
      Chan Desperans #121 Kreyòl

Premye Nowèl zanj la te pale
Bèje yo nan plenn kote yo rete
Nan plenn kote yo gade mouton
Yon nuit fredi kite fè nwa

      Kè:
      Nowèl, Nowèl, Nowèl, Nowèl
      Jezi te fèt Wa Izrayèl

      Avèk limyè, yon bèl zetwal
Twa zòm saj soti nan yon peyi trè lwen
Ak entansyon pou yo chache yon Wa

  13. Excuse me but I really need your help, do you know the creole song that says "prezans ou pi chè pase lò"? It's used to be one of my favorite song but now I just remember the refrain, can I have the whole lyrics please?

    1. Was it a Creole or French song?
Was it "prezans ou pi chè pase lò" or "San w pi chè pase lò"?
Is it sung to the tune of "What can wash away my sins?"

      Is it this one?:

      Sa'k kapab lave peche'm?
      Anyen pase san Jezi Kri
      Sa'k kapab geri tout kè'm?
      Anyen pase san Jezi Kri

      San ki chè pase lò
      Ki wete'm nan lanmò
      Nanpwen lòt sous ankò
      Anyen pase san Jezi Kri

      Pou padonnen sa mwen wè
      Anyen pase san Jezi Kri
      Pou netwaye sa'm mande
      Anyen pase san Jezi kri

      Sa'k pou peye dèt peche'm?
      Anyen pase san Jezi Kri
Se pa bon zèv mwen te fè
      Anyen pase san Jezi Kri

      Sa'k ban'm lespwa ak lapè?
      Anyen pase san Jezi Kri
      Sa'k fè jistis mwen ase?
      Anyen pase san Jezi Kri

    1. Here it is:

I was able to get the lyrics from Pastor Caleb of Miami. He didn't mind when he was pulled aside to sing this song in a cell phone. Pastè Caleb's audio included in this post: Prezans Ou Pi Chè Pase Lò
Chapo Ba! Pastè Caleb. Bondye Beni w!

Prezans ou Pi Chè Pase Lò
      Kè:
Prezans ou pi chè pase lò
Prezans ou pi dous pase myèl
Tout moun ki goute li konn sa
      Ala ou bon Senyè Jezi

      1.
      Se pou non ou beni
      Ou menm Bondye trè wo
Se pou tout sa'k nan nou beni ou
      Nou vle pou'w touche nou
      Pandan n'ap chèche ou
      Manifeste prezans ou Senyè

      2.
      Lè n'atriste Lespri'w
      Se jemi n'ap jemi
Tout zo nan kò nou yo ap kriye
      Benediksyon pou nou
      Se kouri pa peche
Pou'n kapab toujou nan prezans ou

    1. Yes, we do sing it in Creole. It is #74 on the Creole side of of the Chants D'esperance.
Just so you know, these are the same lyrics for the hymn "What a friend we have in Jesus".

      See this Youtube Clip:
      Ala Yon Zanmi Se Jezi

      Ala yon Zanmi Se Jezi
      Ala yon zanmi se jezi
Tout peche nou se chaj li
      Ala yon byenfè pou pote
      Penn ba li nan lapriyè
      Konbyen fwa lapè nou pèdi
      Konbyen chagren nou sibi
      Pouki? Paske nou pa pote
      Tout ba li nan lapriyè.

      Si gen tantasyon ak touman
      Ou traka nenpòt kouman
      Nou pa pou janm dekouraje
      Jezi la nan lapriyè
      Kilès zanmi ki si fidèl
      Ki fè nanm bliye doulè'l?
      Jezi konnen sa feblès ye
      Jwenn ak li nan lapriyè

Nou santin fèb, nou pa kapab
      Kilès flo n'ape pase
      Sovè a di li responsab
      Jwenn ak li nan lapriyè
Si zanmi ou yo bliye ou
      Di Jezi'l, li tande ou
L'ape tann ou bra li louvri
      Jezi vle ba ou lavi

    1. Haitians sing this song with two different type melodies.
The only recording I know of the Haitian version is by
ELDER RICHARD BRYANT.... Old, spiritual type.

This song is tiled in English as: How much I owe for love divine

      Here's the Lyric:

How much I owe, for love divine
How much I owe, since Christ is mine
All that He is to me, I know and I cannot tell how much I owe.

On calvary where my Jesus died, my precious Lord was crucified
He paid a debt, for me I know and I cannot tell how much I owe

How much I owe, for love divine
How much I owe, since Christ is mine
All that He is to me, I know and I cannot tell how much I owe

How much I owe, for love divine
How much I owe, for Christ is mine
all that He is to me, I know and I cannot tell how much I owe

all that He is to me, I know and I cannot tell, I cannot tell how much I owe

    1. Yes, it's hard to find a good one for kids to sing at an event.
Here's a good one from Talegrand Noel from their album Korije (you can find it on from Amazon.com)

Your kids can sing the "" and the first verse if they can't remember all the words.

      Manman mwen!
      Bèl ti manman mwen!
      Leve w abiye
      Jodi a se fèt ou!
Mwen menm ak tout kòd fanmi w yo
Men nou rasanble pou chante pou ou

      1.
      Tout manman se manman
      Tout manman se zantray
      Sa se verite!
      Men ou menm pit rèl
      Nan bat kò pou lakay

      2.
      Depi nan ti baton
      Yon pitit nan pasay
      Pasa delivre
Malgre tout dezagreman ki ta fè w pase pay
      Ou pa dekouraje

      3.
      Lè w pa gen degouden
pou w ban nou sa n bezwen
      Kè w ape senyen
Men ou pa janm nan plenyen
Nan mache fè tenten devan pòt vwazen

    1. Thanks. The mother's day (or rather songs for MOTHERS) that they have in Creole are not kid's songs.

There's one song, i think it's a probably from Martinique. It's in Creole. It's appopriate for kids. It's probably on youtube.

And There's also one song that Haitians sing, it's a very beautiful song, but it's in French. It says:

      Translated as:
      I very well know someone
      always kind, always good
      since I was so small
She dresses me and feed me.
I truly love her, I can say that
I cannot see her without smiling
      Do you know her now
      guess her name, it's mother

      My good mother
      my good mother
until the end of my days
      I want to love you.

I even remember singing this song on mother's day at a catholic school in Haiti when I was little. And we would dance with little flowers for the mothers :)

This song has three different melodies.

    2. There's also a song from Herold Christophe titled Manman on youtube. The "kè" is translated. It might a good melody for kids:
Here's the lyrics (with the "kè" translated)

Si m ta pase sou sa
      Gade aux blanc des yeux
Kijan mwen ta santi m manman
Pou tray w pase pou mwen
      Pou soufrans w’andire
      M p’ap janm fin di w mèsi
Si Jodi a rive, m ka di ou bonne fèt
Se tout nanm mwen kape rejwi
Se pou w rejwi manman, Jodi a se jou pa’w
      Se mwen ki pou bèse’w

Si Jodi a m’ap viv (If I live today)
Se gras a ou manman (it's thanks to mom)
Jodi a si kè’m kontan (today if I'm happy)
se gras a ou manman (it's thanks to you mom)
Bouch mwen p’ap janm sispann (ly lips will never stop)
Repete mwen renmen’w (repeating I love you)
Pa gen pi bèl tankou w (There's none as beautiful as you)
M’ape di ou bòn fèt (I say to you, Happy Anniversary)

      Pou kapab mete m swa
      K’ape fleri pou
      Ak yon sous entarisab

      Bouch mwen p’ap janm sispann
      Repete w mwen renmen’w
Pa gen pi bèl tankou w
M’ape di ou bòn fèt manman!

Other song added, making it a ...Medley.....

Pito'w lage batay la nan men Letènèl

      Izrayèl te devan lamè wouj
Farawon dèyè l, l'ap mache al rankontre l
Kijan pou yo fè? Ki moun ki kab delivre yo?
Te gen yon men envizib ki t'ap gide Moyiz avèk pèp Izrayèl la

Amalèk pa't kapab reziste chak fwa Moyiz leve men'l anlè bay Bondye
Viktwa batay la te la nan men Letènèl.

      Sayil pa't kab sipòte David paske Bondye te chwazi'l pou'l t'al ranplase'l
David pran lafuit, Sayil dèyè'l pou touye'l
David epanye lavi Sayil pandan'l t'ap dòmi
Li pa't mete men sou li.

Aprann lage batay la nan men Letènèl
Se li menm ki konnen sa l'ap fè
Bay Letènèl batay la, w'a gen laviktwa

    "Do do do.

  47. Is there a translation for the song about Zacchaeus? These are the lyrics:
Zacchaeus was a wee little man,
and a wee little man was he.
He climbed up in a sycamore tree
For the Lord he wanted to see.

And when the Savior passed that way
He looked up in the tree.
And said, 'Zacchaeus, you come down!
For I'm going to your house today!
For I'm going to your house today!'

Zacchaeus was a wee little man,
But a happy man was he,
For he had seen the Lord that day
    And a happy man was he;
And a very happy man was he.

Also, I was wondering how you would translate the "Praise ye the Lord" part of this song:
Hal- le - lu. Hal - le - lu, Hal- le - lu. Hal - le - lu - jah
    Praise Ye the Lord
Hal- le - lu. Hal - le - lu, Hal- le - lu. Hal - le - lu - jah
    Praise Ye the Lord
Praise Ye the Lord, Hal le lu jah
Praise Ye the Lord, Hal le lu jah
Praise Ye the Lord, Hal le lu jah
    Praise Ye the Lord.

    Thank you so much!

  52. I am desperate looking for the sheet music (notes) to play the Haiti National Anthem and other songs for children there while I am on a mission trip there. I will be going to the children's classrooms (~400 students total) in school and will bring my flute with me as a special musical treat for them. I want to play their songs (maybe about 5 songs?!) and have them joyfully sing along! I don't play by ear really well, so I need the music to look at in advance and I plan to memorize it. Any help and any ideas how I can get the music either faxed to me or emailed or mailed to me quickly would be appreciated. I will ofcourse pay for any copying/mailing/etc. costs incurred and I promise to also quadruple (time 4) that amount and give for little gifts for the children. I leave next Thur., Jan 15, 2015. 57. Apre anpil t'ap mande charite, men tout pa gen disponib / Siksè. Poudre mò an asire m 'ke mwen pral jwenn mari m' tounen apre pwosesis sa a.
