poze pertains to asking a question.

Mwen poze l yon kesyon.
I ask him/her a question.

Se yon kesyon nou tout dwe poze.
It's a question we all must ask.

Poze m yon kesyon.
Ask me a question.

As for the other sentences,

Ask for forgiveness
mande padon

I ask for your forgiveness.
Mwen mande w padon.

They're asking for help.
Y'ap mande sipò.

She's asking for money.
And also, She's begging for money.
L'ap mande lajan.

Merite pa mande.

Not always true.
I've never lived by that rule.

Both.

"demander (v.)" is French for "to ask"
"a demandé" (past tense) → asked

"mande" is Haitian Creole for "to ask".
"fè la demand" (in Haitian Creole) most often refers to "asking for a hand in marriage".
