  1. Just to make sure I got this, "panse avèk" can be used for all things I might be thinking about, not only people.

"M panse ak bon manje k'ap tann mwen kay grann mwen."

"M pa sa dòmi, m t'ap panse ak egzamen pwochen pa'm nan."

ALSO, how could I say "I was thinking with so and so."
    Idea: "M t'ap panse tèt ansanm ak Jan-Lwi" ?

  2. Tenses a bit weird in my second example... maybe better as

"M pa sa dòmi, m panse ak egzamen pwochen pa'm nan."

Did the first way work too?

    1. Yes, both are grammatically correct, but the first one makes more sense as far as TENSE is concerned.
      you can either say:
"M pa sa dòmi, m t'ap panse ak egzamen pwochen pa'm nan" (just like you have it)
      or
"M pa sa dòmi, m'ap panse ak egzamen pwochen pa'm nan" (just like you have it)

The sentence regarding "thinking about food waiting for you at your grandma's" is awesome.

Regarding the last sentence, do you mean that you and Jan-Lwi were brainstorming, as in trying to come up with a solution for something? If yes, then you could say:

      M t'ap panse ansanm ak Jan-Lwi.
      or
Mwen menm ak Jan-Lwi t'ap panse.
      or
Mwen menm ak Jan-Lwi t'ap fè tèt nou travay.
      or
Mwen menm ak Jan-Lwi t'ap boukante lide.
