Is it "KOURAJ" or "KOURAY"?

It is both.

Some Haitian Creole words that end in "j" also have an alternate ending with the letter "y".

examples:

mesaj or mesay → message

pasaj or pasay → passage

kouraj or kouray → courage

zoranj or zorany → orange

gaspiyaj or gaspiyay → misuse, expenditure

sonj or sony → dream
