Bòn chans :)

is there a translation of Ti Manno's song Neg Kont Neg? what does neg kont neg mean ?

Gee!  How did you find that old song?
Nèg kont Nèg (man against man), as the song explains it, is about black man against black man, inferiority complex, and self-deprecation.  The song especially targets Haitians.
I can tell you right now, the accusations in this ten-minute song are false and unfounded.  As a Haitian, I think Ti Manno, rest his soul, had some serious problems with his own race.
This is not the only song he wrote that belittles the Haitian people.
I remember some time in the mid-1980s, he was stoned and booted off stage by a Creole-speaking crowd.
They should have bury this song along with Ti Manno.

I'm not sure if you'll find the English translation to this song anywhere online.  I'll keep you posted :)

I was wondering about terms of respect in HC. My textbook mentions Konpè to address an older male relative. Are there other respectful terms or codes that should be observed?

You mean HT not HC.
Haiti's last name is Toma. Ayiti Toma :)

Addressing an older male as Mesye or Tonton (plus their last name) would work too.
Addressing married women as Madanm (+last name),
and unmarried women as Matmwazèl.

It's better not to keep eye contact too long with someone older than you.

Do you say "Comment vas-tu?,"Comment allez-vous?(1 person) and "Comment allez-vous?" (2 or more people the same way? Thanks

Before answering this question, I should let you know that this French etiquette does not work for Haitian Creole.

First:
Yes, you are right. You may use "tu" or "vous" for 1 person; and 'vous' for 2 or more people.

Second:
"tu" is used informally. You use it with close friends and people which you're on first-name basis with.

"vous" is for formal use (and plural of course).
I have a friend who complains that she was never able to 'tutoyer' her mother-in-law, even after knowing her for 11 years. Tutoyer (v.) means to use 'tu'. and Vouvoyer (v.) means to use 'vous'.

When I was growing up, I was thought to 'vouvoyer' anyone I meet for the first time except children.
